Laure Manaudou was born October 9, 1986 in Villeurbanne, where she grew up and learned to swim at age six. Fascinated by the water and swimming, it easily shows the potential for this sport. She joined the club of Melun in 2000 and is exercising very hard (2 times 7 km of swimming per day and many weight training classes) to reach the top level.
Manaudou presently holds the world information for the 400-meter freestyle (Short Course).
She won three gold medals at the 2004 European Swimming Competition in Madrid. But a strong star wasn't sufficient for Manaudou in Beijing; she completed 8th in the 2008 Olympic 400-meter final.
