Due to her strong results at the end of last year, Barty received a wildcard into the qualifying event of the Brisbane International (a WTA Premier tournament). There she lost in the first round to number one seed Vania King 1-6 2-6.Partnered with Casey Dellacqua, Barty also received a wildcard into the doubles tournament, reaching the semi-finals before bowing out to the American pairing of Spears and Kops-Jones 7-5 6-7(3).
